  • BQC events

We produce our own “friendraising” events for the Bellingham queer community. Past events include a documentary film screening, a winter ball, the July Pride social dance, and our inaugural Bellingham Erotic Ball October 2023; a costumed dance and entertainment event. We just hosted the Hearts Desire Ball Feb. 10, 2024. Next event will be in June, 2024 for Pride month!

  • Community Events

The BQC supports our local organizations and businesses by coordinating BQC groups to attend events already happening in the community. Our groups have created a safe and welcoming way to go to the Pickford and Mount Baker Theaters, hikes in the forest, Downtown events, and much more.

  • Advisory Meetings

BQC Advisory meetings occur most months and provide an avenue for members of the queer community to socialize and get more involved in our organization. These meetings provide members a way to have a voice in how the BQC develops and takes shape as a new organization.

  • Affinity Groups

Collective members volunteer to facilitate monthly meet up groups based on common interests or identities. Groups meet at least once per month for a couple of hours in a Downtown Bellingham businesses or our library. We are building a new web page for our affinity groups soon!

  • Queer Gathering Space Soon

We are collaborating with other nonprofit organizations in Bellingham to open a queer community center space soon in Downtown Bellingham. There is not a center like this between Seattle and Canada. We are in the process of grant writing and planning our first fundraising gala event. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, we are able to accept donations. All donations at this time are supporting the development of our BQC organization and the opening of a queer center. See our Donation page here.

  • Generations of Pride

WWU, PFLAG and the BQC have formed a coalition to create an intergenerational program to connect younger and older adults who identify as LGBTQ+ for story telling and support.
