Each month, we showcase the work of a local queer artist by hosting a reception during the Downtown Bellingham Partnership’s First Friday Art Walk, and then displaying their work on the walls of the BQC Center in a month-long exhibition.
We’re celebrating the work of local artist Danielle Morgan-Scharhon this month! Join us for a reception during the First Friday Art Walk on September 4, 6-8:30 PM. Danielle will be at the event to chat with guests and her work will be displayed at the Center through the end of the month.
Danielle is a queer multidisciplinary artist and filmmaker based in Bellingham, Washington. Her filmmaking career began when she picked up a super8 camera and started creating short films by editing in camera or with a splicer and tape. After earning a BA in theater from WWU, she went on to earn a master’s degree in film at NYU and currently works as a director and editor of film and video. Her practice in the more tactile art forms of painting, drawing, and ceramics ground her in the physical and natural world and provide a break from the time-based media of film, video and theater. When not in the edit room, painting, drawing, or exploring her craft in the pottery studio, Danielle loves spending time in the forest and on the ocean.
Reflections in the PNW brings together three time-based nature projects created through month-long daily practice. Her work explores observation, memory, and the beauty found through sustained attention to the Pacific Northwest landscape.
