Finding community in an ever-changing landscape can be difficult despite this visibility, which has brought some changes to Whatcom County in the last few years.

The Whatcom Dispute Resolution Center (WDRC) presented Michelle Harmeier and Bellingham Queer Collective with their 2023 Peace Builder Award for Inclusion "for their dedication to build a welcoming LGTBQ+ community, creating a sense of inclusion and safety."
