Community Allies for Queer Equity (CAQE)

  • The BQC Center 310 West Champion Street Bellingham, WA, 98225 (map)

Community Allies for Queer Equity (CAQE) is a community based affinity group focused on supporting trans and queer people through collective action, education, and shared responsibility. The group exists to help shift the burden of advocacy away from trans and queer individuals alone by inviting allies into meaningful, guided participation.

CAQE is a space for people who care about trans and queer communities and want clearer ways to show up, as well as trans and queer people who choose to participate in shaping priorities and direction. Members gather to build relationships, learn together, and take action in ways that match their capacity.

Participation can look different for everyone. Some members show up publicly through civic engagement, solidarity events, or community actions. Others focus on outreach and relationship building by connecting with local organizations, tabling at events, or helping grow community awareness. There is also space for people who prefer behind the scenes work such as learning, research, planning, writing, design, and helping prepare educational materials or proposals.

CAQE meets regularly to build shared understanding, identify where support is needed, and coordinate thoughtful, low lift actions when possible. Over time, the group works toward greater visibility, stronger community connections, and collaborative efforts that support trans and queer people while fostering solidarity across the broader community.

This group is a good fit for anyone looking for a community that centers collective liberation, whether you are new to advocacy or have been involved for years.
